TNT’s “The Closer” celebrated its 100th episode and cast member G.W. Bailey’s birthday Saturday in Universal City. Not that getting together to let loose is all that unusual for the actors and crew.
“Almost every Friday night we have parties after work, from out of nowhere — wine and tequila and a disco ball and a karaoke machine,” said thesp Phillip P. Keene. Usually, those parties have a theme, and Saturday’s get-together at the Sheraton Universal Hotel was no exception. It turned into casino night. While feting a milestone, the cast is also filming the Warner Bros.-produced series’ final season. “It can only be described as a loss in the heart,” said exec producer and scribe James Duff, who went on to call writing that last episode a mix of “ecstasy and anguish.” Kyra Sedgwick also got a little choked up. “I’m kind of an acting machine and I really like the idea of doing 15 hours a day. That really works for me,” said the show’s star.‘Closer’ to the end for skein
