Pirates probably weren’t looking for love when they attempted to commandeer the German love boat.
The cruise ship Spirit of Adventure — once known as the MS Berlin and the former star of pubcaster ZDF’s hit series “Traumschiff” (Dreamboat) — was nearly boarded by gun-toting buccaneers on Jan. 12 while en route from Madagascar to Zanzibar.
The raiders interrupted dinner for the 350 passengers but when Capt. Frank Allica powered the vessel to full speed, he left the wily corsairs in his wake.
The ship was ZDF’s “Traumschiff” from 1986 to 1999, when it was replaced by the current star of the hit show, the MS Deutschland.
