Nomination reaction: John Powell

Composer, Best Original Score, 'How To Train Your Dragon'

For “How to Train Your Dragon” composer John Powell, toons have a built-in advantage when it comes to writing the score.

“It’s really hard to find live-action films where you can be joyful, and that’s the best part about composing for an animated film. And this is a pretty great group of people. They picked up this film and gave it a new refreshing approach and it really was easy to write the score when the film is that good.”
