The process of bringing “Winter’s Bone” to the screen was almost as difficult as the struggles endured by the family at the center of the film.
“We tried for quite a while to set it up in the standard (indie) model which is to attach names that have some sort of financing ability and we did actually manage to secure money at some point,” producer Alix Madigan-Yorkin said. “It was not the easiest to truck to the screen but it’s amazing that we got to maek the film that (helmer) Debra (Granik) and (producer) Anne (Rosellini) wanted to make. …I think the highest compliment we got about the movie is that it really transported you to aworld that nobody had ever seen. That’s largely due to the incredible actors that we were able to secure.”
