Imprint founded by Miami rapper Rick Ross
Warner Bros. Records has entered a partnership with Maybach Music Group, the imprint founded by top rapper Rick Ross.
Maybach’s artists include rappers Wale, Triple-C and Meek Mill, who will now join the Warner Bros. roster.
Label chief Ross remains signed to Def Jam as a solo artist. He has released three consecutive No. 1 albums: “Port of Miami” (2006), “Trilla” (2008) and “Deeper Than Rap” (2009); his most recent set, “Teflon Don,” was issued last year.
Warner Bros. co-president/CEO Todd Moscowitz said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be in business with Rick Ross. We were drawn to his hustle. Ross is an entrepreneur who built his company from the ground up. He’s a music magnate, a lightning rod and an empire builder.”
