Charlie Daniels Band member co-wrote 'Devil'

Joel “Taz” DiGregorio, a member of the Charlie Daniels Band and a co-writer of its signature tune, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” was killed in a car crash Wednesday night on Interstate 40 west of Nashville. He was 67.

DiGregorio’s car was the only one involved in the crash.

Daniels called the keyboard player and vocalist “one of a kind” in a news release from the band.

DiGregorio, who was from Southbridge, Mass., was a member of the band for more than 40 years.

The Charlie Daniels Band canceled a concert Thursday in Cumming, Ga., and a show in Waterbury, Conn., on Saturday.
