Benefit show to be held Oct. 8 in Cardiff, Wales
A major concert commemorating the life of Michael Jackson will be held Oct. 8 at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, members of Jackson’s family announced Monday.
Unveiled at a news conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel featuring Jackson’s mother Katherine as well as siblings La Toya, Tito, Jackie and Marlon, the four-hour concert will be broadcast live in theaters and via pay-per-view in various international territories. All proceeds from the show will go to a variety of charities, including AIDS Project Los Angeles, said Global Live topper Chris Hunt.
Tickets for the show, to be presented by British promoter Global Live Events, go on sale Aug. 4. Performers have yet to be announced.
Jackson’s brother Jermaine planned a tribute in 2009 that was scrapped due to organizational issues.
