Next round of titles available April 12

Following the releases of “Valley of Neptune” and the “West Coast Seattle Boy” anthology last year, Experience Hendrix and Sony’s Legacy Recordings has announced a third wave of releases from the Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project.

The next round of titles, available April 12, will include the first Legacy edition of “Power Of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix,” which includes 16 performances from the Hendrix songbook performed artists including Prince, Santana, Sting, Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz, Cee Lo Green and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Also impending is a newly revamped “South Saturn Delta,” originally released in 1997, which includes the Jimi Hendrix Experience, his expanded Woodstock ensemble Gypsy Sun & Rainbows, and the Band of Gypsys. The package features 15 studio performances along with rare and previously unreleased music.

Finally, a newly reissued 83-minute DVD docu “Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys (Live At Fillmore East)” features interviews with Experience members Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, as well as Gypsies members Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. The new edition includes previously unreleased bonus material as well as stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes of the group’s Fillmore East 1970 performance on New Year’s Day.

“Valleys of Neptune” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, helping catapult four other catalog titles into the Billboard 200 in March 2010. The four-disc “West Coast Seattle Boy,” released in November, helped overall fuel sales of one million Hendrix albums in 2010.
