Def Jam lands Kanye West imprint

First album under deal: Big Sean's "Finally Famous"

Kanye West’s imprint G.O.O.D. Music has inked an exclusive long-term worldwide agreement with the Universal Music Group unit Island Def Jam Music Group.

Deal commences with Detroit rapper Big Sean’s album “Finally Famous,” which will be released today.

Exec produced by West, the set includes the No. 1 rap single “My Last.”

West will continue to record for Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam Recordings. His last album, 2010’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” has sold 1.16 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and remains on the U.S. album chart this week at No. 140 after more than six months in stores.

Universal Motown Republic Group chairman-CEO Barry Weiss said in a statement, “G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam.

“As a recording artist and a producer over the past eight years, there is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye.”
