Multihyphenate to be honored in May

Multihyphenate David Foster will be honored as a Broadcast Music Icon at the performing rights org’s Pop Music Awards on May 17.

Foster has written, produced and arranged for artists ranging from Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston to Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble and Josh Groban.

He is a three-time BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year and has accumulated 36 BMI awards over 40 years. Foster also garnered 15 Grammys and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010.

Past Icons include Kris Kristofferson, the Jacksons, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton.

The BMI awards are scheduled for May 17 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
