Church, Band Perry vie for country kudo

Both acts are up for top new ACM artist

Winnowed from a field of six by online voters, Eric Church and the Band Perry will compete for top new artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 3.

Capitol artist Church was named top new solo vocalist in the Web poll, beating Easton Corbin and Randy Houser. Republic Nashville’s sibling threesome the Band Perry topped the Jane Dear Girls and Sweet Magnolia as best new vocal duo or group. Internet voting began in late January (Variety, Jan. 5)

Acts now compete in the top new artist round; online voting in the category begins March 11 at .

The ACM Awards will be telecast live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
