Madison Square Garden prexy Hank Ratner earned $11.54 million for his labors on behalf of the sports and media outfit in 2010. But, says Footnoted.com, he also made $11.57 million as vice-chairman of former MSG parent Cablevision Systems.
In other words, Ratner was paid $11.54 million for part-time work.
Meanwhile, MSG and the other owners of NBA teams are engaged in a lockout to impose tighter salary caps on pro basketball players. Spotrac.com reports the highest-paid player on MSG’s New York Knicks is Carmelo Anthony. He’ll earn $18.5 million in the coming season, about 80% of what Ratner made from two companies last year.
Anthony won’t exceed Ratner’s 2010 take until the 2014/2015 season. And, he can’t play part-time for another team.
