MONTREAL — Montreal thesp Jean Lapointe will receive the Prix Jutra-Hommage lifetime achievement award at the Jutras, Quebec’s film awards, on March 13.
Jutra prexy Luc Picard, a well-known Quebec actor and director, said he was “extremely happy that the immense talent of Jean Lapointe will be recognized with this prize. He is an extraordinary actor who has delivered some exceptional performances.”
Lapointe starred in some of the more notable films of the past four decades of Quebec film, including “Les Ordres,” “J.A. Martin Photographe,” “L’Eau chaude, l’eau frette,” “Never Too Late,” “The Last Tunnel” and “Crying Out,” which played the Toronto Film Festival last year and was released in Quebec in the fall.
Lapointe became a senator in 2001 and only stepped down in December.
The nominations for the Jutra Awards will be announced on Feb. 9. The kudos will be broadcast live on pubcaster Radio-Canada.
