Shingle will co-produce cop drama starring Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe
Brian Tucker, hails from Emmett/Furla Films. New Regency is co-financing the pic with Emmett/Furla. Title will be distribbed by 20th Century Fox per its deal with New Regency. New York-set story centers on a cop-turned-P.I., who, while attempting to turn his life around, finds himself thrust in the middle of the seedy backroom politics of a corrupt mayoral election. Wahlberg is producing alongside Hughes, Randall Emmett, Stephen Levinson and George Furla. News broke in August that New Regency co-chairmen Bob Harper and Hutch Parker would leave the company at year’s end and founder Arnon Milchan would take on a more active role. Milchan immediately brought Weston onboard and has been working on securing a new revolving credit line north of $500 million.Milchan has said he wants to begin making edgier fare similar to the films Regency put out in the ’90s, like “Heat” and “L.A. Confidential.” Recent Regency pics have included “What’s Your Number?” “Monte Carlo” and “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.” Company has recently come aboard to co-finance Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” and is in the works on Brad Pitt-toplined “The Gray Man.” Wahlberg and Crowe are repped by WME.
