HONG KONG — Four of Asia’s leading helmers will make shorties for “Quattro Hong Kong 2,” an omnibus project commissioned by Brand Hong Kong and produced by the Hong Kong Film Festival Society.
The finished works will bow at the 35th HKFF in March.
The helmers contributing helmers are Thailand’s Apichatpong Weerasethakul, who won a Palme d’Or last year for “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”; Philippines helmer Brillante Mendoza, who was awarded best director at Cannes for 2009’s “Kinatay”; Hong Kong-based Malaysian Ho Yuhang and prominent local helmer Stanley Kwan.
The “Quattro Hong Kong” series started last year as a celebration of the city of Hong Kong. It featured short works by renowned local filmmakers Clara Law, Fruit Chan, Herman Yau and Heiward Mak.
