Singer to perform finale of 'Dream'
Global singing sensation Susan Boyle will join the cast of “I Dreamed a Dream,” the previously announced tuner based on her life story.
Boyle, who has not appeared live in the U.K. since 2009, will only appear during the show’s finale. Through the remainder of the evening her role will be played by Scottish actress Elaine C. Smith. The show embarks on an 11-week U.K. tour that opens at the Theater Royal Newcastle March 23 and then plays Aberdeen, Bradford, Liverpool, Dublin, Bristol, Southend, Cardiff, Birmingham, Inverness and Manchester.
Producer Michael Harrison said, “Having Susan join the cast to perform the finale of her musical is amazing for both ourselves and audiences across the U.K. and Ireland. Susan continues to defy the odds and surprise the world with her record-breaking albums. I can’t wait to see the audience reaction when she walks on stage.”
Boyle shot to fame after singing the “Les Miserables” tune “I Dreamed a Dream” on the third season of “Britain’s Got Talent.” Her appearances made her a YouTube sensation and her two subsequent recordings sold more than 14 million copies in 14 months. A third album is skedded for a U.K. release on Nov. 7.
