Off Broadway to get new ‘Tricks’

Producers target summer or fall for commercial outing

Producers are working on pulling together a commercial production later this year for “Tricks the Devil Taught Me,” a new play written and directed by Tony Georges.

Contempo drama centers on a West Texas couple and their twentysomething son. Play had a reading last year at New World Stages with a cast that included Shuler Hensley (“Young Frankenstein”), Beth Grant, Mary Testa (“Xanadu”), Jill Paice (“Curtains”) and Mary Stout.

Producing team includes Circa 1440 Inc., Idle Mind Ltd. and Maddy Bassi.

No cast or precise timeline has yet been confirmed for the show, with producers aiming to kick off perfs in the summer or fall.
