Classic Stage Company has lined up F. Murray Abraham, Bebe Neuwirth, John Turturro and Dianne Wiest to star in the productions on tap for the Off Broadway theater’s 2011-12 season.
Turturro and Wiest will appear in helmer Andrei Belgrader’s staging of Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” (Nov. 9-Dec. 18.) Turturro previously directed 2007 outing “A Spanish Play” at CSC, while Wiest has appeared in the company’s productions of “The Forest” and “The Seagull.”
Next up, Abraham will lead the cast of “Galileo” (Feb. 1-March 11), the Bertolt Brecht play directed by CSC a.d. Brian Kulick.
For Neuwirth, who’ll appear as fairy queen Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (March 28-May 6), the gig is her first announced outing on the Gotham stage following her impending exit from Broadway tuner “The Addams Family,” which she departs June 26 after 15 months playing Morticia Addams. CSC associate a.d. Tony Speciale will direct.Opening dates and further details remain to be nailed down.
