Goldfarb play replaces Uhry's latest in season schedule

Manhattan Theater Club has added the world preem of Daniel Goldfarb play “The Extinction Method” to its Off Broadway sked this spring.

Production, helmed by Sam Buntrock (“Sunday in the Park With George”), replaces the previously announced bow of Alfred Uhry’s latest, “Carl’s Sister.” That show, soon to have a one-night reading at MTC starring Julie White and Boyd Gaines, has been postponed to allow for further development.

“Extinction” centers on two neighboring Brooklyn couples, one with a new baby and the other deciding whether to get married and have kids. Scribe’s works include “Sarah, Sarah” (which MTC produced in 2004), “Modern Orthodox” and the book to “Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me,” co-written with Short.

“Extinction” kicks off previews May 10 ahead of a May 25 opening at City Center. Casting remains to be announced.
