Colin Quinn’s Broadway show “Long Story Short” has posted a second extension, with the solo outing now playing through March 5.
Production was last skedded to run through Feb. 5, already an extension of the originally scheduled run that was to close Sunday.
“Long Story Short” hasn’t exactly burned up the box office, with weekly sales only breaking the $200,000 mark for the first time last week since the show began perfs Oct. 22. On the other hand, the single-thesp production with modest set and tech demands, occupying the smallest (and therefore one of the least expensive to rent) theaters on Broadway, keeps running costs equally low.
The latest extension reps the longest the show can likely remain in the Helen Hayes Theater, since tuner “Rock of Ages” will shift from the Brooks Atkinson Theater to the Hayes in a run announced to begin sometime later in March.
