Latessa lands in ‘Lyons’

Grant, Pressley also in Silver play

Dick Latessa, Kate Jennings Grant and Brenda Pressley have booked roles in “The Lyons,” the new play by Nicky Silver toplined by Linda Lavin.

World preem, helmed by Mark Brokaw at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater, follows a family prepping for the death of its patriarch, to be played by Latessa, who scored a 2003 Tony for his perf in “Hairspray.”

Along with Grant (“Guys and Dolls”) and Pressley (“Dreamgirls”), “The Lyons” also will star Michael Esper and Gregory Wooddell.

Lavin opted to star in “Lyons” over the concurrent Broadway transfers of both “Follies” and “Other Desert Cities,” two projects in which she had appeared in previous incarnations.

“The Lyons” begins previews Sept. 21 ahead of an Oct. 11 opening at the Vineyard.
