Actress to star in Rapp play

Christine Lahti leads the cast of the Atlantic Theater Company’s upcoming world preem of Adam Rapp’s “Dreams of Flying Dreams of Falling.”

Off Broadway regulars including Betsy Aidem (“The Metal Children”), Quincy Tyler Bernstine (“Ruined”), Reed Birney (“Tigers Be Still”) and Cotter Smith (“Kin”) join Lahti in the Neil Pepe-helmed staging, which also stars Shane McRae and Katherine Waterston. Lahti’s credits include a 2009 stint in the Broadway production of “God of Carnage.”

The surreal play by Rapp centers on two well-off families in strangely apocalyptic circumstances.

Since renovations on the Atlantic’s mainstage space are still being completed, “Dreams of Flying” will play at Classic Stage Company in a run that begins previews Sept. 13 and opens Oct. 3.
