Hudes feeds Hartford a ‘Spoonful’

Connecticut theater announces 2011-12 season

Tony Award nominee and Pulitzer finalist Quiara Alegria Hudes will preem her latest play, “Water by the Spoonful,” at Hartford Stage in Connecticut on Oct. 20-Nov. 13.

Davis McCallum helms. He also directed Hudes’ “Elliot, a Soldier’s Fugue,” which was a Pulitzer finalist. She was nommed for a Tony for her book to “In the Heights.”

The rest of the 2011-12 season at the Hartford theater will be Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible,” helmed by Gordon Edelstein, a.d. of New Haven’s Long Wharf Theater; “Boeing-Boeing” directed by Maxwell Williams; and “Bell, Book and Candle,” helmed by Darko Tresnjak, who staged the show in an earlier production at the Old Globe in San Diego.

Two productions remain to be announced, one of which will be chosen by the theater’s new a.d., expected to be named in May.
