Grote, Washburn have Woolly world premieres

A collaboration with Second City also set for 2011-12 season

World preems by playwrights Jason Grote and Anne Washburn and a collaboration with Chi’s Second City will are set for the 2011-12 sked at D.C.’s Woolly Mammoth Theater Company.

Grote’s new satire “Civilization (All You Can Eat)” and Washburn’s “Mr. Burns, a Post-electric Play” will be mounted in February and June respectively, per Woolly a.d. Howard Shalwitz. “Civilization” follows four grad school friends at the start of the recession, while “Mr. Burns” is a post-apocalyptic tale about survivors re-inventing the entertainment industry.

The Second City production, “Spoiler Alert: Everybody Dies,” is slated for December. It follows this season’s popular collaboration between the two orgs, “A Girl’s Guide to Washington Politics.”

Woolly’s season will kick off with Samuel Hunter’s “A Bright New Boise,” seen in Gotham earlier this season, and will include “Arias With a Twist,” the drag queen and puppet act of Joey Arias and Basil Twist.
