Broadway regulars Alexander Gemignani (“Sweeney Todd”), Christopher Innvar (“110 in the Shade”) and Chip Zien (“Into the Woods”) are among the thesps signed on to “The People in the Picture,” the Broadway tuner getting a world preem this spring from the Roundabout Theater Company.
Also in the principal cast are Nicole Parker, Rachel Resheff, Hal Robinson and Lewis J. Stadlen, appearing alongside topliner Donna Murphy in the new musical.
The tuner from book writer-lyricist Iris Rainer Dart (“Beaches”) and composers Mike Stoller (“Smokey Joe’s Cafe”) and Artie Butler centers on the life of a Yiddish Theater star in pre-WWII Poland who eventually immigrates to New York City.
Leonard Foglia (“Thurgood,” “Master Class”) helms the production, with musical staging freom Andy Blankenbuehler (“In the Heights”).
Roundabout produces “People” in association with commercial producer Tracy Aron. Show begins previews April 1 ahead of an April 28 opening at Studio 54.
