'Women's Minyan' makes New York bow
Thesp Tovah Feldshuh tries her hand at directing with an upcoming industry reading of “Women’s Minyan,” a play by American-born, Jerusalem-based scribe Naomi Ragen.
Set in Israel, the storyline centers on a woman who confronts the rabbinical courts after she leaves her abusive husband. Decade-old show, which makes its Gotham preem with the reading, bowed at Israel’s National Theater and ran for more than 400 perfs.
Recent Broadway credits for legit vet Feldshuh include “Golda’s Balcony” and “Irena’s Vow.”
The reading is produced by One Circle Prods., led by a.d. Mira Tzur. The company has partnered with victims’ service org Safe Horizon on the project.
Reading is set for May 9 at the Off Broadway’s Westside Theater.
