Cullom ankles Long Wharf Theater

Exec was in managing director post for less than two years

Ray Cullom is ankling his position of managing director of New Haven’s Long Wharf Theater after less than two years.

Cullom, 45, will be taking over an exec chair at a performing arts center where he will be involved in producing as well as presenting. He says details of the new job are not final.

When Long Wharf names Cullom’s successor it will be the fifth managing director for the theater in the past nine years.

Cullom was previously executive director of the Bethesda Theater in Bethesda, Md., for five years. Cullom also was director of marketing and sales and general manager of Networks Presentations, the theatrical production arm of the former Clear Channel Entertainment, for four years.

Long Wharf houses two theaters and has an annual opertaing budget of $5.4 million. Gordon Edelstein is the theater’s artistic director.
