Clark to act superior in ‘Sister Act’

Actress to play convent head in Broadway musical

Victoria Clark is among the thesps joining the cast of incoming Broadway tuner “Sister Act.”

Clark, who scored a Tony for her perf in “The Light in the Piazza,” will play Mother Superior alongside lead Patina Miller, who reprises her role from the London production of “Sister Act” as on-the-run nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier (originated on film by Whoopi Goldberg, one of the producers of the musical).

Also added to the “Sister Act” company are thesps including Fred Applegate (“La Cage aux Folles”) as the Monsignor, Sarah Bolt (“Wicked”) as a shy nun, Chester Gregory as policeman Eddie and John Treacy Egan (“The Little Mermaid”) as gangster Joey.

Tuner begins previews on Broadway March 24 ahead of an April 20 opening at the Broadway Theater.
