For Jim Belushi, coming back to Broadway as Harry Brock in the revival of “Born Yesterday” Sunday night was personal.
“I played Harry in college and it was such a big deal for me,” Belushi said at the Edison Ballroom afterparty. “I did 40 plays and got all my roles from that. When I heard they were doing this, I called my agent.”
Committed to “Born” until the end of July, “I have two weeks before I hear about ‘The Defenders,’ ” he said of a second season pickup. “If that goes, we start filming Aug. 1.”
Co-star Robert Sean Leonard is in similar straits. “I don’t have a contract with ‘House,’ ” he said noting the wrangling between NBCUniversal and Fox. Until those get settled, the new season that was to begin filming June 3 is in limbo — and so is Leonard. “Since I’m here until the end of July, yes, the math doesn’t work.”
