Barrett, Harris hear ‘Silence’

Spoof plays Off Broadway this summer

Brent Barrett and Jenn Harris will lead the cast of “Silence of the Lambs” spoof “Silence! The Musical,” gearing up for a commercial Off Broadway production beginning in June.

Harris, who plays FBI agent Clarice Starling in the unauthorized parody of the Oscar-winning 1991 thriller, initially appeard in the show during its debut run at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2005. Broadway regular Barrett is on board as Hannibal Lecter in the production, to be directed by Christopher Gattelli.

A return Gotham visit for “Silence!” has been percolating since the show’s well-sold outing at the Fringe, with a U.K. staging hitting London last year. Both the Fringe run and the London stint were helmed by Gattelli.

Staging cast includes Stephen Bienskie, who originated the part of serial killer Buffalo Bill in the Fringe production, Deidre Goodwin (“A Chorus Line”), Jeff Hiller (“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”), Harry Bouvy, Howard Kaye and Alysha Umphress.

Also this June, the book writer of the tuner, Hunter Bell (“[title of show]”), will see his new musical “Now. Here. This.” presented in a developmental production at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater. Jon and Al Kaplan pen the songs for “Silence!”

Produced by Victoria Lang, Rich Affannato and Donna Trinkoff, “Silence!” begins perfs June 24 at Theater 80.
