Funding will enable completion of films

Women in Film will award cash grants to the makers of eight pics in the nonprofit’s 26th annual Film Finishing Fund Grant Program, ensuring the projects are completed and distributed.

Recipients were chosen from a pool of 113 films made by, for or about women, including narrative features, docs and animated shorts. The 2011 Film Finishing Fund winners are “Ability: The Judy Finelli Project”; “Everybody Knows … Elizabeth Murray”; “I Am Nasrine”; “Seeking Asian Female”; “Naked”; “Future Weather”; “Zergut”; and “Kusama: Princess of Polka Dots.”

Netflix is providing the program with $50,000 grants along with distribution recommendations and consultation upon completion.

“We continued to be impressed by the roster of talented filmmakers whose work demonstrates unique artistic vision, intelligence and heart,” said Lisa Nishimura, veep of independent content acquisition at Netflix.
