Guild sets Feb. 19 for gala
The Writers Guild of America has set Feb. 19 as the date for its 2012 awards ceremonies, a week before the Academy Awards.
The WGA will hold simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York. The guild has selected the Hollywood Palladium as the venue in Los Angeles but hasn’t announced the Gotham locale.
The WGA made the annnouncement Wednesday, a day after the Producers Guild of America set its locale as the Beverly Hilton.
The PGA had announced in March that the 23rd annual Producers Guild Awards would take place Jan. 21 at the Century Plaza, but it disclosed Tuesday that it had switched.
The Century Plaza, long a favored venue for the PGA, WGA and DGA awards shows, was shunned last year by the three orgs because of an ongoing labor dispute between unionized hotel workers and the Hyatt Corp.
The Directors Guild of America has set Jan. 28 as the date for its 2012 awards show but has not disclosed the location. The guild held this year’s ceremonies at Hollywood and Highland. The Screen Actors Guild’s awards ceremonies will take place Jan. 29 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
