‘Welcome to People’ welcomes Duplass

Actors joins DreamWorks' Kurtzman drama

Mark Duplass has joined the cast of drama “Welcome to People,” with Alex Kurtzman helming a script he co-wrote with Roberto Orci and Jody Lambert.

DreamWorks film centers on a young man, played by Chris Pine, who is directed by his father’s will to deliver $150,000 to a sister (Elizabeth Banks) he didn’t know he had. Thesp-director Duplass (“Cyrus”) will play a neighbor who takes a romantic interest in Banks’ character. Olivia Wilde and Michelle Pfeiffer also are among the cast. Kurtzman, Orci and Bobby Cohen produce.

Other upcoming gigs for Duplass include the untitled Lynn Shelton project (alongside Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt) and Lawrence Kasdan’s “Darling Companion.”

His next outing as a writer-helmer, “Jeff Who Lives at Home,” will be released by Paramount later this year.
