Waters wades toward Beatles comedy

Sidney Kimmel Ent. develops 'Get Back'

Mark Waters is in negotiations to direct the Beatles-themed comedy “Get Back” for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

Producers are Kimmel and SKE production president Matt Berenson along with Waters and producing partner Jessica Tuchinsky. Jim Tauber is exec producing.

The script, penned by Chris McCoy, centers on the discovery of a time machine by two die-hard Beatles fans, who travel back in time to prevent John Lennon from meeting Yoko Ono, who they blame for the break-up of the Fab Four.

Waters is working toward a late summer start in London for “Get Back.”

Waters is in post-production on “Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” set for a June 17 opening by Fox. Previous credits include “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday.”

Waters is repped by CAA. McCoy’s repped by WME and Gotham Group.
