LONDON — Box office tracking service Rentrak is to present its international B.O. achievement award to Warner Bros. Pictures Intl.
The award is given to the distrib with the highest grossing film in Europe for the previous 12 months. This was Warner’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” which had a European gross of Euros 262 million ($369 million).
The award will be presented to Warner execs on June 30 at international exhibs’ confab CineEurope, which takes place in Amsterdam.
In further news, CineEurope, which doubles as the annual convention of European exhibs’ org UNIC, will present its UNIC achievement award to Jean Labe, the prexy of the Federation Nationale des Cinemas Francais, and VP of UNIC.
Labe ran independent theater chain Auxerre Cinemas in Burgundy, France, from 1991 until last year.
The award will be given to Labe as part of CineEurope’s opening ceremony on June 28.
“Jean Labe has been one of the key figures in the history of UNIC, serving as a member of the board, then as vice president and president, and most recently as senior vice president. His support and advice have been invaluable as we have sought to build the influence and reputation of the organization,” said Ad Weststrate, prexy of UNIC.
