Warner Bros. sets ‘Argo’ for Sept. 14

Ben Affleck thriller gets same weekend 'The Town' bowed last year

Warner Bros. will open Ben Affleck’s hostage thriller “Argo” on Sept. 14.
“Argo,” which focuses on the operation to rescue six Americans in the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, is the second title to land on the date following Sony’s “Resident Evil 5.”
“Argo” is directed by Affleck and produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov and Affleck. Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman also star.
Warner gave Affleck’s “The Town” the same weekend last year, opening that title on Sept. 17.
Warner has been firming up fall 2012 B.O. dates this week. Studio on Wednesday set an Oct. 19, 2012 bow for “Gangster Squad.”
