Okun, Taylor II, Hogarth, Coleman, Lavery round out leadership

The Visual Effects Society has named its board officers for 2011 and is expanding its presence in two key regions.

Org has added a section in New Zealand and is expected to approve a section for New York at its board meeting next month.

The VES 2011 board officers were announced Monday, with Jeffrey A. Okun returning as board chair. The visual effects supervisor’s credits include “Stargate,” “The Last Samurai” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

Richard Winn Taylor II takes the post of 1st vice chair. He is the creative director at yU+Co Inc., and has won 15 Clio awards for directing commercials. Pam Hogarth, director of marketing for Look Effects, is 2nd vice chair. Digital Artists Agency prexy Bob Coleman is treasurer. Vfx producer Kim Lavery is secretary.

According to VES exec director Eric Roth, org is also looking into how it can support the industry as it eyes unionization and formation of a trade organization.

The 9th annual VES Awards is set for tonight at the BevHilton.
