Sean Penn starrer to be released next year
LONDON — U.K. indie distrib Trinity Films has snapped up Paolo Sorrentino’s Cannes competish title “This Must Be the Place.”
Trinity acquired all U.K. rights for the Sean Penn starrer from Pathe International and is planning a 2012 theatrical release in Blighty.
Pic, which also toplines Frances McDormand and Judd Hirsch, sees Penn play a retired rock star on a quest to find his father’s ex-Nazi tormentor.
Nicola Giuliano, Francesca Cima and Andrea Occhipinti produce, while Michele Petin, Laurent Petin, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe co-produce.
Sorrentino penned the script with Umberto Contraello.
Trinity’s upcoming slate of titles includes Denis Villeneuve’s “Incendies,” out in U.K. cinemas on June 24, Audrey Tautou starrer “Beautiful Lies,” skedded for an Aug. 19 release, and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut “Jack Goes Boating,” due out in early October.
