Producers Grant Turck, Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen have launched development of feature comedies based on Shepherd Mead’s satricial self-help titles “How to Succeed With Women Without Really Trying,” “How to Get Rich in TV Without Really Trying” and “How to Live Like a Lord Without Really Trying.”
The trio made the announcement Friday, two days before the Broadway opening of Mead’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” starring Daniel Radcliffe. The Broadway revival reported full houses and came close to the $1 million mark in its first week playing a full sked of eight previews.
Turck, Gasmer and Jaysen are in talks with writers and plan to meet with studios next month. Gasmer, Jaysen and Turck will produce through their respective shingles — Alan Gasmer & Friends, Team Jaysen and Grant Turck Prods.
Turck, who also manages the Mead Estate, brought the books to Gasmer and Jaysen.
“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” was published in 1952 and adapted into a hit musical in 1961.
“How to Succeed With Women Without Really Trying” was published in 1957 and sports a similar satirical tone.
