Beverly Hills Temple to dedicate Yizkor memorial service

The Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts will play tribute on Yom Kippur to the late Ronni Chasen and Laura Ziskin.

Both women were members of the temple that puts special emphasis on music, drama, art and dance in services led by Rabbi David Baron. Baron led the memorial service for Chasen after she was murdered last November. Ziskin died June 12 after a seven-year fight with breast cancer.

The temple will dedicate its Yizkor memorial service during Saturday’s High Holy Day service to “these women of valor (who) in their own way gave so much to humanity and the arts,” Baron said.

The Yom Kippur service at the Saban Theater will feature memorial readings by members Theodore Bikel and Sela Ward, as well as music by L.A. Philharmonic violinist Mitch Newman.

Broadway vets Ilysia Pierce and Jordan Bennett serve as cantors.

The service will be telecast on Jewish Life Television Network.
