Late 2011 release for Burns' latest

Tribeca Films has tied the knot with “Newlyweds,” taking U.S. and Canadian rights to the Edward Burns dramedy.

Film was the closing-night selection of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and the sixth Burns pic to screen at Tribeca.

Storyline centers on a newly married couple whose honeymoon is disrupted by the groom’s flaky younger sister and the disintegrating marriage of his in-laws. Burns wrote, directs and stars alongside a cast that includes Caitlin FitzGerald, Max Baker, Marsha Dietlein Bennett and Kerry Bishe.

Burns produced with Aaron Lubin and William Rexer; Mike Harrop exec produced.

Distribution deal was negotiated by Tribeca’s Nick Savva and Nancy Schafer with Burns, Lubin and John Sloss of Cinetic Media.

Tribeca Film aims to release “Newlyweds” later this year but hasn’t yet specified on which platforms. Distributor’s activities include theatrical, video-on-demand, digital, homevideo and TV releases.
