‘Transformers’ tops Friday B.O.

'Horrible' not bad with $9.92 mil for second spot

For its second Friday in a row, Paramount’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” topped the domestic box office with $14.9 million from 4,107 locations.

Down an expected 55% from last Friday, “Transformers” is still outpacing the competish in its soph frame. If Par’s actioner sees similar percentage changes as its opening, it should land in the low-$40 millions keeping it well ahead of projections for this week’s new entries.

Up behind “Transformers” on its opening night, Warner Bros’ “Horrible Bosses” took second with $9.92 million from 3,040 locations. The R-rated laffer, one of many this summer, should land around $25 million through Sunday given the 15% Friday-Saturday drop off for the genre.

Sony’s Kevin James starrer “The Zookeeper” took third with $7.4 million from 3,482 playdates. Family films like “Zookeeper” tend to play better as weekends progress, but Sony could see this one sour as auds hear reviews and word of mouth. Still, James is a bankable star that should keep the film around $20 million this frame.

Internationally, “Transformers” continues to have the box office mostly to itself. “Zookeeper” only opens in a handful of markets this weekend, but Sony is expecting solid overseas play for the title.

Rounding out Friday’s tops, Disney’s “Cars 2” made $4.826 from 3,990 venues and Sony’s “Bad Teacher” made $3 million from 2,962.
