Ties That Bind unveils 2011 projects

East-west producers workshop sets second edition

SEOUL — Ties That Bind, the Asia-Europe producers workshop, has unveiled the lineup of its second edition.

The workshop is organised by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund in partnership with European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, Italy’s Udine Far East Film Festival and South Korea’s Busan Film Festival with support from the EU’s Media Mundus.

The workshop brings together five producers with feature projects from Asia and five from Europe. Selected producers will have two workshops: the first in Udine during the Far East fest from May 3-7, and the second in Busan during the fest from Oct. 10-13.

The workshops give producers the chance to work with experts from both continents, focusing on

script development, co-production, financing, marketing, pitching and promotion.

Ties That Bind 2011 projects are: “8 Pairs,” produced by Flavia Daina Oertwig (Italy); “The Winner,” prod. Rina Harahap (Indonesia); “Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories,” prod. Nguyen Hoang Diep (Vietnam); “At Close Range,” prod. David Lindner (Germany); “Repeat After Me,” prod. Jing Liu (China); “Killer Karma,” prod. Michael Pritchett (U.K.); “The Shadow,” prod. Shim Hyunwoo (South Korea); “Suriya,” prod. Pran Tadaveerawat (Thailand); “Small Birds,” prod. Arry Voorsmit (Netherlands); “Sunny Boy,” prod. Flaminio Zadra (Italy).
