Bening, Morgan get 'Act' together for Reiner
Annette Bening and Morgan Freeman are set to topline director Rob Reiner’s family-oriented “The Third Act.”Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures is financing and selling international rights for the pic, skedded to lense in May. Pic reunites Reiner and Freeman (“The Bucket List”). The story, penned by Guy Thomas, tells the tale of a once-famous Western writer who moves to a rural town to rediscover the talent that made him great. CAA negotiated the deal with Voltage and is repping the film domestically. Voltage’s office in the Mandala Hotel in Berlin is likely to be busy this year. The outfit is shopping James Franco starrer “Maladies,” which also toplines Catherine Keener and Fallon Goodson. Pic, which just wrapped in New York, follows the story of three mentally ill people struggling to co-exist in a small beachhouse. The company is also selling Victor Salva’s horror pic “Rosewood Lane,” starring Rose McGowan. And Voltage will debut footage of its inhouse production “Killer Joe,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, in addition to shopping legal drama “Puncture” with Chris Evans; “Ten Year,” starring Channing Tatum; and Sundance preem “Another Happy Day,” toplining Ellen Barkin, Ezra Miller and Demi Moore.
