Vienna-based Terra Mater Factual Studios — a new addition to Europe’s nature-themed production and overseas distribution — has acquired international rights to Spaniard Gerardo Olivares’ “Entrelobos” (Among Wolves).
It’s the first acquisition by Terra Mater, which is part of Austria’s Red Bull Media House, the programming arm of the multinational beverage conglom.
Terra Mater’s CEO is Walter Koehler, the longtime head of Universum, the nature-wildlife film unit of Austrian pubcaster ORF. He has taken the 13-person Universum production team to Terra Mater.
In another key appointment, theatrical production and international theatrical sales will be handled by Sophokles Tasioulis.
Terra Mater has already tied down a slot on Servus TV, Redbull’s new German TV channel.
The “Among Wolves” deal underscores that Terra Mater will not just be dealing in TV fare.
Produced by Jose Maria and Miguel Morales’ Madrid-based Wanda Vision and Tasioulis’ Sophisticated, “Wolves” mixes fictional narrative and sumptuous nature footage to tell the true story of a young boy living alone in the Spanish wilds in the 1960s, who is befriended by wolves.
