Tarantino gets Cesar’s seal of approval

French film awards have a little fun at helmer's expense

While Hollywood remained consumed with the Oscars, Quentin Tarantino received an honorary Cesar award — and much more — at the French film awards, which took place Friday in Paris.

Emcee Antoine de Caunes was ecstatic to have Tarantino sitting in the front row, next to Jodie Foster, and gushed, “Dear Quentin, I want to thank you for all your wonderful movies filled with guns, sexy girls and rude language. I know that in America you’re not allowed to say the word ‘fuck’ on TV, but in France we love it. So on behalf of the academy, I’m pleased to offer you a big fucking phoque,” which means “seal” in French.

No sooner had he finished his speech than a live seal took the stage and sat on a stool.
