'Zoo' thesp to play Ryan Reynolds' wife in Universal thriller

EXCLUSIVE: Stephanie Szostak is in final negotiations to play the female lead in Universal’s “R.I.P.D” starring Ryan Reynolds.

Robert Schwentke will helm with Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi adapting the script which is based on the graphic novel series by Peter Lenkov.

story follows a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He then tries to find the man who murdered him. Szostak would play Reynolds wife.

The pic also stars Jeff Bridges and as variety first reported last week, Kevin Bacon.

Neil H. Moritz, Mike Richardson, Ryan Reynolds and Jonathon Komack Martin producing through Dark Horse Entertainment, Original Film and Dark Trick Films. David Dobkin, Keith Goldberg and Ori Marmur will serve as exec producers.

Szostak can be seen next in “Gimme Shelter” as well as the Cameron Crowe pic “We Bought a Zoo.”

She is repped by UTA and Principal Entertainment.
