Sundance Selects ropes ‘Buck’

IFC Films’ sister division Sundance Selects has nabbed North American rights to Cindy Meehl’s documentary “Buck,” which is screening in the U.S. docu competish at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Docu, about horse whisperer Buck Brannaman, preemed Friday.

Deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, senior VP of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, and VP of business and legal affairs Betsy Rodgers, with Josh Braun of Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.

“Our entire company has fallen in love with ‘Buck,'” prexy of Sundance Selects/IFC Films Jonathan Sehring said in a statement. “Cindy Meehl’s funny, deeply inspiring and crowd pleasing film about Buck Brannaman has ignited the passion of audiences in Park City.”

The film was produced by Julie Goldman. Andrea Meditch serves as a creative consultant on the pic.
