Sundance Selects picks up Wenders’ ‘Pina’

3D docu already drawing auds in Germany

U.S. rights to “Pina,” Wim Wenders 3D documentary celebrating the choreography of Pina Bausch, have been acquired by Sundance Selects.

The pic about the renowned choreographer premiered to a favorable response at the Berlin Film Fest. It has grossed more than $4 million in Germany and has been licensed internationally by HanWay Films to more than 40 territories.

The deal for “Pina” was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, sr. V.P. of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects with Tim Haslam, CEO of Hanway Films on behalf of the filmmakers.

Sundance Selects is a division of IFC Films and IFC Midnight.
