Sundance partners with Honda on fellowship

Institute teams for filmmaker Dreams Lab

The Sundance Institute and Honda are partnering for a new fellowship.

The Honda Power of Dreams Lab Fellowship will recognize a filmmaker participating in the institute’s Feature Film Program Directors Lab. The fellow, to be named April 14, will be selected by Institute staff and Honda execs and receive a stipend from Honda. Lab participants already receive year-round mentorship from the institute.

At the lab, directors can rehearse, shoot and edit scenes from their screenplays in a workshop environment. Past participants include Debra Granik, Sean Durkin and Kimberly Peirce.

Honda has been a supporter of the Institute and an official sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival for three years. In 2010 and 2011, the company sponsored video vignettes that screened before films in competition highlighting the work of the Sundance Institute Labs. Honda’s eight films in the “Dream the Impossible” docu series were produced by Sundance fest alumni.

The lab runs May 30-June 23 in Sundance, Utah.
